Carlos PerezThe Fishers Police Department arrested Carlos Gabriel Perez on Thursday, October 2nd and charged him with two counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary and one count of theft. The charges are the culmination of an investigation that began on September 25, 2008.

On September 25, 2008 at 12:41 am officers were dispatched to 12051 Driftstone Drive in Fishers. The homeowner reported that an unknown male attempted to enter her home through a back door. She told officers that her dogs began to bark. As she walked to the back door she noticed the door closed completely. She told officers that she left the door open with a locked storm door. She locked the door and looked out a window. She described seeing the shadow of a person moving south from her backyard.

At 3:13 am deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to 12610 Walrond Road (near 126th and Brooks School Road) The homeowner reported that she woke up to something and went to investigate. When she exited her bedroom she heard a noise in the next bedroom. She noticed that someone was closing the bedroom door. She opened the door and observed the back door that leads outside standing open and pieces of mulch on the carpet.

At 6:53 am officers were dispatched to the area of 12099 Bears Way in Fishers. The homeowner reported a prowler in his fenced backyard. The suspect was able to provide a description of the suspect. Officer Dan Osborn located the suspect walking in the 12800 block of Raiders Boulevard.
Officers later learned of a theft from a vehicle that occurred at 12605 Walrond Road. The owner reported that cash was taken from the car. Carlos Perez had the same amount of cash in his pocket when he was located by police.

A warrant was issued on October 1, 2008 for Carlos Perez. He was arrested on October 2, 2008 and transported to the Hamilton County Jail.

Investigators from the Fishers Police Department continue to investigate two home invasions in the Windermere sub-division that occurred in 2005 and 2006. They are also investigating a home invasion that occurred in the Brooks Chase sub-division in May of 2008. Carlos Perez lived in Windermere for a period of time before moving to The Bristols sub-division near Brooks Chase. Carlos Perez is now a person of interest in those home invasions as well. The investigation is ongoing.
